I think it’s definitely a great tool to have available to reference whenever for your team.

The most obvious, and easiest, time to take an employee through it is in their on-boarding or first 1:1.

Outside of that, you will have to manage a preexisting relationship you have with a team and person. Overall, you’ll want to adjust the delivery based on each individual and use the method best suited for them… if you’ve worked with someone from a certain period of time it might be more beneficial to ask, “hey! I wrote this. How accurate is it? Is there anything you would add/edit/delete”
